July and August are usually big months for school enrollment, Huntsville School officials recently agreed. Superintendent Jonathan Warren reported on the end-of-year enrollment numbers during the May Huntsville School Board meeting.

The Huntsville School District is in a better position regarding staffing this school year compared to this time last year, Superintendent Jonathan Warren said after the Huntsville School Board approved a slate of personnel at a special meeting held July 27. 

Back-to-school shoppers will be on the hunt for savings this weekend during the state's tax-free holiday, which will permit consumers to purchase certain goods free of sales or use taxes.

Sisters Madilynne (Madi) and Kate Wasson recently attended the Family Career and Community Leaders of America’s National Leadership Conference in Denver, Colo. This was the first National Leadership Conference for the St. Paul High School students, and they soaked up every learning opportunity available. 

The Jasper School Board did an about-face Monday night, rescinding a contract offer to a former St. Paul basketball coach for a coaching position at Oark School. It also accepted the resignation of Oark Principal Kenena Pelfrey, who recommended hiring him. 

Every spring, students across Arkansas (and most other states) take standardized tests designed to gauge not only how well each student learned during the school year, but how well the schools overall did teaching.

The Huntsville School District has been in negotiations with the Huntsville Police Department and the City of Huntsville about school resource officers at local schools, after Madison County Sheriff Ronnie Boyd said his department would no longer provide the officers.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office will no longer provide deputies as School Resource Officers to the Huntsville School District, according to Sheriff Ronnie Boyd.

The Huntsville School Board approved several recommended policies from the Arkansas School Board Association except for a few, including one that would have kept members from going on their own to visit individual school buildings. 

It’s a tale of two yearbooks.  The Huntsville Middle School yearbook was recognized as the best yearbook in the nation for the second consecutive year.

The Huntsville Middle School yearbook staff received first place in the 2022 Lifetouch Yearbook Showcase Contest.

Huntsville High School held its annual Scholarship Night on May 11.

The Huntsville School Board members should always be the last stop not the first stop, said Attorney Marshall Ney of Friday, Eldredge & Clark of Rogers, on Monday night at a board working session.
