Members of the varsity Eagles basketball teams saluted the special veterans in their lives Friday night at the Activity Center.

The team-voted award recipients were: Most Valuable Player: Hallie Howerton; Most Improved: Nora Thomas.

Cedric Comer signed his letter of intent to bowl with the Ottawa Braves, at Ottawa University, on Nov. 1.

The Huntsville Eagles dropped a hard-fought campaign against the Green Forest Tigers on Friday night, 14-6, falling to 0-9 overall this season and 0-6 in 4A-1. The loss on Senior Night eliminates Huntsville from playoff contention. Mist and slippery conditions might have played into the loss, but for the most part, it was a low-scoring game that saw both sides affected by penalties and turnovers. Huntsville made its lone touchdown early in the first quarter and was unable to break into the end zone again. Green Forest also made its first touchdown early, not to score again until the closing minutes of the contest.

River Gosvener, head coach of the Huntsville Eagles basketball team, has high hopes for the upcoming season and attributes his aspiration to his players, who have been working hard in the off-season.

It’s Senior Night at Eagle Stadium. Huntsville will play their final home game of the season against Green Forest.

Gritty football. That’s what the Huntsville Eagles played down to the end of Friday night’s often emotional 4A-1 conference game in Berryville, which saw the Eagles fall to the Bobcats, 20-12.

The second half looked a lot different - and better - than the first half of Friday night’s football conference battle between the Huntsville Eagles and the Lincoln Wolves. Both teams incurred more than their fair share of penalties in the first and second quarters, but the Eagles returned to the field after halftime a changed team – energized, inspired and ready to fight. Unfortunately, despite a touchdown scored by Kouper Shepherd in the game’s final 42 seconds, the Eagles were unable to overcome a 29 point deficit, falling 63-34.

The Eagles will face the Lincoln Wolves tonight at Eagle Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
