The Huntsville Water and Sewer Commission on Thursday selected Crossland Heavy Construction Co. to serve as the Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) overseeing the $32.6 million expansion of the city’s wastewater treatment facility, which is expected to begin construction later this year.

In its first regular meeting of 2024 — delayed from Jan. 16, a state holiday, to Jan. 18 due to inclement weather — the Madison County Quorum Court passed an appropriation ordinance amending the 2023 budget and adopted two resolutions pertaining to the replacement of two bridges in the county.

At least three inches of snow fell on Madison County beginning around 1 p.m. and ending sometime after 8 p.m. on Sunday, leaving city streets coated. Arkansas Department of Transportation blade and de-icing trucks were seen on Huntsville streets but as of 8 a.m. Monday there was little traffic on thoroughly coated roadways.

Madison County Sheriff Ronnie Boyd advised motorists to use caution on little-traveled roads as snow continued to fall around 11:20 a.m. Friday.

An Elkins woman was arrested Thursday night at a Madison County residence when the Madison County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant issued by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office at the home.
