Huntsville School Board members are grappling again with perceived conflicts of interest after Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies discovered former Superintendent Audra Kimball and longtime board member Duane Glenn under a bridge on Highway 74 at approximately 10 p.m. on May 24.

After an incident between a Huntsville Intermediate School student on a bus last week, Luke Harp resigned his position as a bus driver on May 18, but remained employed in another position working at the “bus barn” for the Huntsville School District.

After a three-hour executive session during a specially called Huntsville School Board meeting on May 19, the Huntsville School Board reluctantly voted to honor Audra Kimball’s request to move from the superintendent position to director of personnel and program compliance and transfer Jonathan Warren from that position to superintendent, effective May 20.

Huntsville School District and its school board members violated the Freedom of Information Act by not turning over documents in response to a request by Witter resident Benjamin Rightsell, according to Circuit Court Judge Doug Martin’s final order issued last week in a suit filed last year.  The district was ordered to tender the documents to Rightsell. 

Area high school seniors will graduate this week with ceremonies planned in Huntsville and St. Paul, while Kingston graduates will receive diplomas on May 21.

Students in the Huntsville School District will start classes on Aug. 15 for the 2022-23 school year, the Huntsville School Board decided Monday night during its May meeting.
